Fond is closing
Announced October 9, 2026 · Fond closes Thursday, October 29, 2026 at 9:00 AM ET (13:00 UTC) · personal data deleted by February 1, 2027
What is happening
Fond set out to make every recipe cookable, step by step, and to keep credit attached to the people who created it. We are proud of what it did in thousands of kitchens. We have not, however, found a way to make Fond sustainable as a business, and we would rather close it carefully — with time for you to get your data and your money back — than let it slowly degrade. Deglaze Corp., the company behind Fond, is winding down.
Thank you for cooking with us.

| Thursday, October 29, 2026, 9:00 AM ET | The app closes: importing, cooking and your library stop. Recipe links (recipe.getfond.com, getfond.com/r/…) and agent connections stop working. In the final version (3.2.0), Export my data and Delete Account keep working after this moment (see “Your data”). |

| February 1, 2027 | All remaining personal data is deleted from our systems and our processors. |
What still works until October 29
Everything you use today keeps working until the app closes. From October 9:
- Imports and cooks are free. You will not be asked for credits or a subscription, and nothing is charged to anyone. Free is not unlimited, though: each import costs us real money to process, so there is a fair-use limit per account per day, set well above anything a person cooking has ever done, and we may pause imports briefly if we see automated traffic. If you ever hit the limit, e-mail help@getfond.com and we will raise it the same day.
- Your recipes, your cooking history, and your saved recipes stay available in the app.
- Sign-in, Delete Account, and the new Export my data button all work until the last day — and in the final version the last two keep working after the app closes (see “Your data”).
The final update (version 3.2.0) shows a closure notice in the app and, once Fond has closed, a closed screen that still lets you export or delete your data. If you have an older version installed it keeps working until October 29 too — just without the notice and without the export button (see “Your data” for how to get your export by email instead) — and it stops working entirely when the app closes.
Subscriptions and refunds
No subscription renews after October 9, 2026. Where we can refund you ourselves we do it automatically, for the part of your billing period that falls after the close date:
refund = price × (days remaining after October 29, 2026 ÷ days in your billing period), rounded up to the next whole dollar
Apple (App Store). Apple does not let developers issue refunds, so we have stopped renewals and ask you to request the refund from Apple directly at reportaproblem.apple.com: choose the Fond purchase and select “Request a refund”. Apple usually answers within a few days. If Apple declines and your subscription runs well past October 29, email help@getfond.com with the decline and your renewal date and we will look at it with you.
Google Play. Renewals are cancelled. Where Google Play lets us refund part of a subscription, the pro-rata refund for time after October 29, 2026 is issued automatically to your original payment method and typically appears in 3–5 business days. If nothing has arrived by October 19, 2026, or the store would not let us refund your order, email help@getfond.com with your Google order number and we will sort out the refund with you directly.
Web subscriptions (Stripe). If you subscribed through our earlier web checkout, your subscription is cancelled and the unused portion after October 29, 2026 is refunded automatically to the card on file. There is nothing you need to do. Refunds typically appear in 5–10 business days.
Credit packs. Credits are not needed any more — imports and cooks are free until close — so you can use what you have or not, as you like. Packs bought on Google Play in the 30 days before October 9 with unused credits are refunded in full automatically. For packs bought through Apple, request the refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
If you had a subscription and are not sure which store it came from, open the app and check Settings, or email help@getfond.com and we will tell you.
Your data
Export it. The final update (version 3.2.0) adds Export my data in Settings (above Delete Account). It gives you a file containing:
- your profile and contact details as we hold them;
- the recipes you authored, including their structured, step-by-step form;
- the recipes you saved, with the author’s handle for each;
- your cooking history.
It comes as both JSON (for tools) and Markdown (for reading). It never contains your sign-in credentials, connected-account tokens, or push tokens.
After the app closes. Version 3.2.0 keeps working for this one purpose: stay signed in, and Export my data and Delete Account remain available on the closed screen — whichever way you signed in (email, Google, Apple or phone number) — until January 31, 2027. This is the simplest path for every account, and the only self-service path if you signed up with a phone number.
By email instead. If you cannot update the app, are signed out, or the export is too large to deliver in-app, email privacy@getfond.com and we will reply with a download link:
- Accounts with an email address (including Google and Apple sign-in): write from the email address on your account.
- Accounts with a phone number only, or if you cannot send from the address on your account (for example an Apple Hide My Email relay address): write from any email address and tell us the phone number or the address on file. Before we send anything we confirm you own the account by asking for details that are not public — for example the titles of recipes you recently saved or cooked, or the month you signed up (never your handle on its own: handles are public). We never send an export to an address we have not verified this way.
Export requests by email are accepted until January 15, 2027 so we can handle them before the final deletion. The in-app export on version 3.2.0 keeps working until January 31, 2027; all remaining personal data is deleted by February 1, 2027.
When it is deleted. After the app closes on October 29, 2026, we delete all personal data — accounts, contact details, cooking history, tokens, and analytics identifiers — from our systems and from every processor that held it. This completes by February 1, 2027. Our records of purchases (including exports from RevenueCat and Stripe) and the records held by Apple, Google and Stripe are retained as financial records for seven years, as the law requires. The updated Privacy Policy has the details.
Delete it sooner. You can delete your account in the app any time (Profile → Settings → Delete Account until close, then from the closed screen in version 3.2.0 until January 31, 2027; instructions). Or email privacy@getfond.com — from the address on your account, or with the same ownership check as above if you signed up by phone or cannot send from the address on file — and we will delete it for you within ten business days. Deletion requests by email are accepted until January 15, 2027; after that everything is deleted by February 1, 2027 regardless.
Creators and attribution
Fond’s registry recorded who created each recipe and where it came from. When the app closes, the public recipe pages go offline and there will be no public archive. The attribution records themselves — recipe, source, and the creator handle shown on it — are preserved in an offline archive so that the credit trail is not lost. A handle can identify its creator, so this is the one deliberate exception to the deletion of personal data described above (the same permanence the privacy policy has always stated for public attribution); no contact details, cooking history or account data are kept with it. Fond’s registry never paid per-cook creator earnings, so none are owed. Creators who ran a reader subscription through our earlier Stripe web checkout will hear from us directly about winding down that connected account.
